ELEGY AND REGENERATION
In 2011, a devastating wildfire burned 325,000 acres in the Davis Mountains of West Texas, including Madera Canyon, an area that is my spiritual and physical home. The Elegy drawings are from the first walks I took across the burned landscape after the fire. All of the materials for the drawings were gathered from the charred earth and plant materials that remained. The Regeneration drawings were completed over the next several years, as the rains arrived and the plants returned.
